Compliment slip & DL envelope TOUGH box — frequently asked questions
What are the dimensions of this box and what does it hold?
The box measures 231 x 121 x 57mm externally and 226 x 116 x 55mm internally — identical dimensions to the standard compliment slip box. It holds compliment slips (99 x 210mm) and DL envelopes (110 x 220mm) flat and protected without folding or damage.
Why do printers use TOUGH boxes for despatching compliment slips?
The impact-resistant construction means TOUGH boxes survive courier handling without cracking — so printed compliment slips and DL media arrive at the client's door in perfect condition. The box then becomes the client's storage box as they work through the pack, and can be repurposed once empty. It is not a single-use packaging item.
What is the difference between the TOUGH and standard compliment slip box?
The dimensions and design are identical — the difference is the material. The TOUGH box is made from a high-impact grade of polypropylene that offers significantly improved resistance to knocks, drops, and heavy handling compared to the standard grade. The TOUGH box is opaque white; the standard box is available in clear transparent and TOUGH white. Choose the TOUGH box for despatch and demanding environments; choose the standard box where transparency matters.
Is this box acid-free — safe for archival storage of printed media?
Yes. The box is made from acid-free polypropylene, which means it will not react with or damage printed media, paper, or card stored inside it. Safe for long-term storage of print jobs, presentation materials, and client delivery packs.
What material is this box made from?
The box is made from high-impact PP5 polypropylene — a chemically inert, recyclable plastic that is acid-free, moisture-resistant, and significantly more robust than standard polypropylene. Opaque white finish. Wipes clean easily. Consistent production run dimensions ensure uniform appearance across large orders.
Where is this box made?
This box is designed, manufactured, and quality-checked at our factory in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey. S.B.Weston Ltd has been manufacturing precision injection moulded products in south west London since 1948 — originally from a factory in Teddington, then on Platts Eyot, a small island in the Thames, before moving to our own factory premises in Sunbury-on-Thames in 2002. When you buy a WestonBoxes product, it is genuinely made in Britain — not just branded here.
