Reuse, Reuse, Reuse

WestonBoxes are designed to be sturdy and strong and withstand many years of use. You can wash them out, clean them with cleaning products and even put them in the dishwasher. Please treat them as permanent storage items by reusing them as many times as possible. WestonBoxes are NOT single use plastic products!

About Polypropylene

WestonBoxes are made from Polypropylene which is a recyclable thermoplastic identified with resin code 5. It is widely recycled in the UK and often can be included in your household recycling collection bin. You can check if this is possible in your area by visiting your local authority website.

Recycled Material Content In WestonBoxes

We manufacture WestonBoxes from virgin Polypropylene mixed with a variable percentage of recycled material recovered from our own process. We don't throw away any scrap boxes, they're granulated and fed back into the production line. At present, purchasing recycled Polypropylene to manufacture our boxes from would cause many issues, the main ones being:

• Recycled Polypropylene often contains contaminants - the quality of the boxes would be affected
• Recycled Polypropylene is often unavailable in the specific grades that we require to manufacture our boxes so the manufacturing process would be disrupted.
• Recycled Polypropylene generally costs more than virgin Polypropylene so the price of the boxes would have to increase.

Do The Right Thing!

If you have a damaged box or your WestonBoxes really have reached the end of their useful lives then please make sure you recycle them. Plastic is an amazing material that enables great convenience in our lives, BUT! We have a responsibility to treat plastic items with respsect and to make sure that when we dispose of them, we do it correctly. Polypropylene can be reprocessed and recycled but only if it is correctly disposed of and and not sent with general waste to land fill. Do a quick check on your local authority website and see if they will collect PP in your area - many do! Lets all do our bit! Thanks!
